Pools, Predators, and the Widdershins Codex
Session 1 ·
Entering the Corpse Chamber
The party opened a white gate into a dark, necrotic pool filled with floating bodies. Realizing these were no ordinary corpses, they committed to a fierce battle, discovering that only magic could harm them.
Surviving the Scrag Attack
As the party fought the necrotic entities, scrags burst from a neighboring room. The group coordinated their efforts, pulling each other from the dangerous waters and overcoming the creatures' resilience to clear the chamber.
Clearing the Bone Spring
Reid sensed heat signatures in a bone-strewn spring. By hauling the aquatic predators onto dry land, the party exposed their vulnerabilities, allowing them to defeat the group and find valuable stamina-restoring potions.
Deception in Spawn Pools
Julieta’s appearance as a divine figure caused the Kuo-Toa guards to prostrate themselves. The party used this distraction to secure a glyph key and let opposing factions exhaust each other before moving forward.
Bargaining with the Hag
Goro’s magic forced a sea hag to reveal her true form among her illusions. Facing defeat, she negotiated for her life, surrendering magical gear and revealing a secret passage before being allowed to leave.
Uncovering Hidden Treasure
Novus discovered an invisible stone lid beneath the water, revealing a hidden coffer. The party recovered a significant amount of gold and a mysterious wooden box, adding to their growing haul of supplies.
Sanctuary in Blood Pools
Returning the remains of Baron earned the party the trust of the Kuo-Toa. Julieta’s divine presence further secured their position, stopping a ritual and earning the group a protected place to rest.
Unlocking the Codex
During their rest, the party consulted the Widdershins Codex. Each member received unique, powerful boons, including a new wand, a reliquary, an hourglass, and a soot-and-ember familiar, before settling in for the night.
