How to record D&D with the Craig Discord bot
Invite Craig, get your table’s permission, and use its recording commands in your voice channel. This guide covers starting, stopping and finding the recording link. Paste that link into Recap Raven if you want a player-safe recap afterward. There is no audio file to upload.
How do you record with Craig?
Start on Craig’s official website.
- Invite Craig. Open craig.chat, choose Add to Discord, and select a server you can manage. Check the permissions shown before approving the invite.
- Join the voice channel. Join the voice channel your table plays in.
- Start recording. Get permission from everyone being recorded, then run Craig’s
/joincommand in Discord. Select Craig if another bot offers the same command. Check its recording message before you begin. - Play your session. Play your session as normal.
- Stop recording. Run Craig’s
/stopcommand when the game ends. Find its recording message in your direct messages, or use/recordingsto retrieve it. - Copy the download page link. Click Download in Craig’s message to open the recording’s download page. Copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. Recap Raven accepts this link, not a downloaded audio file.
- Paste it into Recap Raven. Sign in to Recap Raven, start a session, and paste the link. Recap Raven transcribes it per speaker and writes your recap.

Downloads and troubleshooting
Downloads are optional and stay with you. On Craig’s recording page, choose FLAC for separate audio tracks or an Audacity project for editing, then wait for processing and save the files before expiry. To use Recap Raven, paste the recording link instead.
- No direct message? Run Craig’s

Does Recap Raven store my audio?
Only for the minimum time needed to transcribe it. Recap Raven then deletes the audio as soon as reasonably possible. Your recaps, transcripts, and GM notes stay until you delete them.
How do I turn a Craig recording into a recap?
Craig imports are included on every plan. Record your session with Craig, copy its recording link, sign in to Recap Raven, start a session, and paste the link. Recap Raven transcribes it per speaker and writes the recap.
How do I download a Craig recording?
Run /stop and open the recording link Craig sends by direct message. Use /recordings if the message is missing. Select a format, wait for processing, and save the files before the recording expires. Keep the link private because it gives access to the recording.
Is Craig bot safe to use?
Craig is a separate third-party service, so review its current terms and privacy information yourself. Tell everyone before recording, get their permission, give the bot only the permissions it needs, and keep recording links private.
Should I use Craig or the Recap Raven bot?
