Kazkar compared
Kazkar vs Recap Raven: what helps between sessions?
The party remembers the argument with the guard. You need to remember what they promised him, which faction he works for and whether that promise changes next week's prep. A recording is a useful start; the question is how you want to use it afterward.
Recap Raven turns that recording into player-safe recaps and private GM feedback with Premium. Memory adds cited answers, campaign prep advice and planning through Ask. Both Raven and Kazkar also let you explore relationships in your campaign records.
Compare pricing and free recording allowances
Kazkar advertises 10 free recording hours. If your campaign will run beyond that, check how to get additional hours: its public site directs you to Discord without listing a paid price or confirming whether the free allowance renews.
Try Recap Raven free without a credit card, with up to 7 sessions and 31 recording hours in your first month, more than 3 times Kazkar’s advertised 10 free hours. That includes 5 Standard sessions and 2 Premium + Memory welcome sessions. See the welcome offer for how to unlock the full allowance.
After your first month, Recap Raven continues with 2 free Standard sessions every 30 days, up to 3 hours each. Premium starts at US$8.99/month for 5 sessions of up to 6 hours each, with private GM feedback and analytics. See current pricing to choose the allowance that fits your table. Recap Raven publishes its prices, session limits and renewal schedule upfront, so you can plan around your game nights and know what you’ll pay before committing.
Read a session before choosing a recorder
Kazkar’s public example presents a session as narrative prose, followed by a summary of the main events. Character and item names link to lore entries. Open one of those entries and consider whether this is how your players would look up an old acquaintance or a forgotten object.
Recap Raven’s Showcase lets you read real recaps from campaigns whose GMs have chosen to share them. Look for the details your group needs at the start of the next session: where you left off, what changed and which decisions still matter.
Start with a real Raven campaign in Showcase, then try your own game with the free Premium + Memory welcome session. You can read the player recap, review the private GM feedback and ask about details from the recording.

Recap Raven gives longer campaigns more to work with
When a forgotten NPC returns, will you really read through session notes from 6 months ago, or would you rather ask a bot to search your campaign and show you the transcript evidence? If you want to ask, choose Recap Raven with Searchable Memory. Find out what the party promised, trace a character across sessions and check the conversation behind the answer.
Recap Raven’s Ask answers campaign questions with transcript quotes and source links. Both players and GMs can check an old clue, settle what the party agreed or pick up a forgotten thread without digging through months of notes. Use it privately for GM planning, or enable player chat so your group can use /ask directly in Discord with the Recap Raven bot. Player answers stay player-safe, with supporting evidence they can read for themselves. See how campaign memory works.
Memory sessions also update Campaign World, quest progress and open hooks. Premium adds private GM feedback and analytics to help you review pacing and participation. Together, those tools give you a campaign record you can question and use while preparing the next adventure.
Kazkar’s public documentation focuses on chronicles, linked lore and relationship graphs. It does not advertise an equivalent campaign-question feature at the time of our review. If you want to ask about your campaign rather than browse its entries, that is a reason to try Recap Raven’s Memory.
Keep the campaign record current and find old details
Kazkar’s changelog documents editable lore, session timelines and relationship lists. Its manual sessions keep the words you write, while detecting names to add to the campaign record. That suits GMs who enjoy maintaining a readable reference alongside the recordings.
Recap Raven keeps editable Campaign World entries, relationship views, a chronicle and quest logs together, with automatic updates from Memory sessions. Ask also helps you plan upcoming sessions using that campaign history. Ask what the party promised an NPC and open the cited transcript evidence behind the answer. Our campaign memory guide shows the workflow.
Want to explore your campaign in more depth? Recap Raven supports bringing your own AI assistant through MCP, so you can work with available recaps, transcripts and campaign data in a compatible tool. Premium includes transcript access through MCP; Memory adds campaign search and cited answers. We also publish D&D and TTRPG statistics from the Recap Raven community, giving you a reference for comparing your table’s session length, participation and style of play.
We could not verify transcript-cited campaign Q&A in Kazkar’s public pages. Its linked lore gives you another way to browse the campaign; those links should not be mistaken for citations supporting an answer.
Use private GM feedback to plan your next session
Recap Raven keeps the player recap separate from GM-only material. You can add your own GM notes on Free. Premium adds generated GM feedback and analytics, including spotlight balance and scene energy, to help you review how the evening went.
Use the feedback to choose a practical change: bring a quieter character into the opening scene, follow up a decision the group enjoyed, or leave more room after a tense encounter. Our session-prep guide shows how to turn the previous game into a short prep list.
Kazkar’s published changelog describes chronicle feedback as rating the generated chronicle and telling the team what to improve. We did not find public documentation for GM coaching or participation analytics. Those are different uses of the word feedback.
Compare features and what happens to the audio
Kazkar’s privacy policy says audio is deleted 24 hours after processing, while transcripts and campaign records remain. Recap Raven deletes audio as soon as reasonably possible after transcription and does not provide an audio download. If you want to keep your audio, Recap Raven supports Craig bot.
