From a GM at the table
Case study: Recap Raven and YouTubers
Recap Raven works with a wide variety of TTRPG tables beyond D&D. Here we follow two YouTubers who use it to keep track of their campaigns: VictorSeven, running Daggerheart, and Cyber Chiv, running the Stargate SG-1 TTRPG.
We’ll look at their campaigns, hear what VictorSeven thought of his first recap and see how Recap Raven fits into Cyber Chiv’s Stargate SG-21 game.

Case study 1: VictorSeven’s Daggerheart adventures
Watch VictorSeven on YouTube →VictorSeven plays through Tales from the Yawning Portal with Daggerheart, adapting the D&D 5e adventures for a different set of rules. You can watch the campaign unfold in full actual-play sessions on his channel.
His channel also includes The Legend of Zelda: Haunted Memories, played with BREAK!! RPG.
VictorSeven switched to Recap Raven for clear, accurate recaps he and his players could use between games. In his public feedback in our Discord server, he highlighted the readable presentation, GM information and words-by-speaker breakdown.
“Alright, after getting my first recap from Recap Raven, I’m thoroughly impressed.”
“There’s so much useful info in these, and in the GM section, and being able to ask about specific things that happened in previous sessions is really nice.”
“The words and turns measurement really helps me identify which players I may need to make more room for/call on more during session, too.”
The words-by-speaker chart gave VictorSeven something he could act on at the next game: which players to invite into the conversation. I have had that conversation with my own group, too, and wrote about the changes I made in how much should a DM talk.
Recap Raven’s Searchable Memory lets him ask about earlier sessions and follow the sources behind an answer. You can try it with a Premium + Memory welcome session. Memory plans include more sessions with these features. Our campaign-memory guide shows how it works.

Case study 2: Cyber Chiv’s Stargate SG-21
Watch Cyber Chiv at 0:30 →Cyber Chiv runs Stargate SG-21 with the Stargate SG-1 tabletop RPG by Wyvern Gaming, using TaleSpire for the virtual tabletop. The series follows the team through science-fiction adventures, including Echoes in Orbit and The Ashes of Ra.
The description of Echoes in Orbit Part I credits Recap Raven for the campaign notes and links to a World Anvil campaign site where viewers can follow along. It is a public example of Recap Raven supporting a group playing a less widely known RPG system.
Scene timestamps for your video description
Recap Raven creates a copyable list of scene timestamps from sessions with timing information. In your GM session view, choose Copy timestamps and paste the list into your video or podcast description. Viewers can use it to find the part of the game they want to revisit.
The times follow the session recording. If your video has an introduction, edited breaks or cuts, adjust them to match the finished upload. Read the scene titles before posting, too: the GM view may include details you do not want to reveal in a public description.

Try it with a session you know well
When comparing recap tools, use a game whose details you remember. Check a few names, a promise and an unresolved thread. Then see whether the result is easy to find and useful when you start preparing again.
Keep the first recap and revisit it after the next game. You will have a better sense of whether it helped your table remember the decisions that mattered.
You can also start with existing notes using the free campaign tracker. If you want to try recording, our Discord recording guide walks through the setup.
Explore real campaigns in Campaign Showcase, or read our guide to sharing your campaign online. Showcase is free and opt-in: you choose what to publish, while GM-only notes stay private.
