Loreify alternative: how Recap Raven compares

Your session recap should leave you with less work before the next game. Recap Raven records your Discord session, gives you private GM feedback with Premium, and adds campaign prep advice and planning through Ask with Memory.

Loreify and Recap Raven both record Discord games and help you use the history afterwards. Published by Recap Raven, this comparison uses public product information, with pricing and Discord features checked on 20 October 2026. It does not claim hands-on testing of both products.

Start with how you record your games

Loreify supports recording in its app, audio uploads and a Discord bot. That makes it worth considering if you switch between online sessions and games around a physical table.

Recap Raven records directly in Discord, imports Craig recording links, accepts pasted transcripts and can create recaps from written session notes. Bring an existing campaign up to speed for free by importing your session notes before recording the next game. The bot handles recording and recap delivery without a file to download or upload; with Craig, paste the recording link and Raven handles the files.

Recap Raven’s Discord recording guide walks through setup and your first session. Loreify also records and delivers notes directly in Discord. If you mainly need to upload phone recordings, Loreify has the more suitable capture options.

Recap Raven offers a recurring Free plan and more sessions on its entry paid plan

Recap Raven gives you up to 7 free sessions and 31 recording hours in your first 30 days, without a subscription or credit card. That includes 5 Standard sessions and 2 eight-hour Premium + Memory welcome sessions (unlock the second within 10 days). After the first month, you keep getting 2 free Standard sessions every 30 days, up to 3 hours each. For a group playing twice a month within that limit, recording, transcription and player-safe recaps can stay free.

If you want private GM feedback and deeper analytics, Recap Raven Premium costs US$8.99 a month for up to 30 recording hours: 5 sessions of up to 6 hours each. Use all 5 sessions and that works out at about US$1.80 per session, compared with US$3.50 on Loreify Casual when both included sessions are used.

Loreify Casual costs US$7 a month for two sessions, with a seven-day trial. Its US$15 monthly subscription advertises unlimited sessions, and the annual option is US$120. Loreify says the plans share the same features and differ in session allowance.

Recap Raven’s TTRPG Table Insights research found an average of 12.6 days between recorded sessions in its October 2026 analysis. For a campaign playing at that pace, that is roughly two or three games a month. A seven-day trial may cover only one game, depending on when you start. Raven’s ongoing Free allowance lets you keep recording after the welcome period.

Before paying for unlimited sessions, consider your actual schedule. Raven’s 5-session Premium allowance covers a weekly campaign, including months with 5 game nights. Unlimited can make sense for frequent games or several campaigns; for one table, the feedback and prep tools you use between sessions may matter more.

Find an old detail and check the answer

Loreify’s Campaign Chat advertises answers with citations. Its lore map connects people, places and events, giving you a visual way to explore the campaign. Cited answers are a feature of both products.

Recap Raven’s Memory answers include transcript quotes and source links, so you can check what was said before building next week’s adventure around it. Open the original conversation to distinguish a promise from a suggestion or a player’s theory. AI can misread a scene; the evidence helps you check the answer. Recap Raven’s campaign-memory guide shows questions worth asking during prep.

Memory also keeps Campaign World and quest progress current, and supports private planning through Ask. With player chat enabled, the party can use /ask directly in Discord for player-safe answers with transcript evidence. Paid Memory plans include an Ask allowance that scales with the plan tier.

Both products help with invented names. Recap Raven’s spelling dictionary supports aliases and GM-approved suggestions from earlier transcripts. GMs can also set each character’s pronouns, helping Raven refer to them correctly without guessing from an unfamiliar fantasy name. Loreify offers a custom dictionary and campaign-wide spelling corrections with a preview before applying changes. Its public pages do not clarify whether character pronouns can be configured at the time of this review.

Prepare the next game with feedback, prep advice and Ask

Loreify lists unresolved threads and next-session prep among its generated notes. It also shows playful session charts, including a chaos meter and session bingo. Both products help you look back at the evening; compare the output you would actually use next week.

Recap Raven gives you several ways to prepare. Premium combines private GM feedback with participation, scene energy, Pillars of Play charts and character spotlights. Memory adds campaign prep advice with likely next directions, threads to watch and suggestions for the next game. Words by speaker are available on every plan.

You can also use Raven’s Ask privately to plan an encounter, shape an opening scene or decide which loose end to follow. It uses your saved campaign context and separates established facts from suggested directions, so you keep control of what happens next.

See the real charts in Recap Raven’s session analytics examples and the DM prep advice in the creator case study. A useful test is whether the advice gives you one thing you want to bring into the next game.

Keep your notes in the tools you already use

Recap Raven’s Obsidian plugin brings player-safe recaps into your vault, while its Foundry VTT plugin brings them into your virtual tabletop. Keep the campaign record alongside the notes and encounters you use to run the game.

For deeper analysis, connect a compatible AI assistant through Recap Raven’s MCP integration. Premium includes transcript access; Memory adds campaign search and cited answers. Loreify’s reviewed public pages do not list equivalent plugins or MCP access.

Check what your players receive

Loreify’s Discord guide describes automatic note delivery with a public sharing link. Players can open the full notes without a Loreify account. Its spelling guide says campaign owners make corrections while shared readers can view the sessions.

Recap Raven offers a similar experience: players do not need a Recap Raven account to read recaps delivered directly to Discord, browse its public Campaign Showcase or open a shared recap link. The bot posts only player-safe recaps, keeping GM-only material separate. You can turn off automatic publishing to review a recap before sending it. Campaign Showcase is free and opt-in, sharing only player-safe details.

Recap Raven deletes audio as soon as reasonably possible after transcription and does not use campaign content to train AI. Recap Raven’s privacy policy explains recording, transcript and private GM note handling, retention and deletion.

Read real campaign recaps in Raven’s Showcase to see what a visitor receives. Before publishing your own campaign, agree with the table on what you want to share.

Which should you choose?

For a Discord campaign playing twice a month, Raven’s recurring Free tier can cover recording, transcription and player-safe recaps: 2 Standard sessions every 30 days after the first month, up to 3 hours each, without a subscription or credit card.

For weekly games, Premium includes 5 sessions with private GM feedback and session analytics for US$8.99 a month. Choose Memory for US$13.99 a month to add campaign prep advice, cited answers and private planning through Ask. Loreify’s US$15 unlimited-session plan deserves a look if you record more often or need in-person capture.
