How long does a fight last?

Consecutive combat scenes are combined to estimate how long a fight lasts. These timings describe continuous combat blocks; a fight can still be split if another activity appears between its scenes.

The headline measure

Average combat encounter length

45.7 minutes

Mean · consecutive combat scenes

Use this as a rough planning reference, alongside the encounters your own group enjoys.

What this measures

Combine adjacent timed scenes whose main activity is combat, sum their classified durations, then average the block lengths. A different or unclassified scene ends the block.

What this measures

Combine consecutive timed combat scenes, then compare blocks shorter than 60 minutes with blocks lasting at least 60 minutes. This measures the combined blocks, not individual scene segments.

A way to discuss whether your players want a fight every game or are happy with some evenings without one.

What this measures

The percentage of classified sessions containing at least one combat scene. Sessions without combat remain in the denominator.
